The family and I headed up the coast on what may have been the most beautiful display of New England fall foliage yesterday. We donned our rain gear, watched the pumpkin boat races, and ogled at the giant pumpkin art. I am so grateful to have spent the day with my beautiful baby and wonderful husband, dry in the elements, laughing at absurdities. We made special stops at the 1741# state champ along with the 1100#+ runner up, Maine Maritime Museum’s Zumwalt destroyer pumpkin boat, and of course my pumpkin.
Thank you all for joining me on this exploitation of genetic giantness. The cover crop is on next year’s pumpkin patch, winter is surely a coming, and before we know it, spring will arrive again; it will be time to start seeds for next year’s attempt at pumpkin greatness.
